Get the kids
on the water.

Growing the sport starts with the next generation. That's why junior anglers now fish two dedicated, highly competitive divisions — with their own fish, their own leaderboard, and their own 1st place trophy.

Two divisions

Keepers
& Kickers

Same water. Same weigh-in. Two age groups fishing for the heaviest single fish of the day — and the title in their division.

The Keepers

Under 13

The next wave of trail anglers. Each Keeper fishes for their one biggest fish of the day — weighed on its own junior board, not mixed into the adult bag (unless the Junior Upgrade applies).

The Kickers

Under 18

Older juniors hunting a true kicker. Same format as Keepers — one biggest fish, their own division, and a shot at the 1st Place Trophy and the title for the age group.

Three easy
boat setups

To get as many kids on the water as possible, every boat picks one of these configurations. Here is exactly how they work.

01

Standard team + 1 junior

2 adults · 1 junior

The two adult anglers fish for their standard 5-fish limit, while the junior angler fishes completely separately for their 1 biggest fish.

The junior's catch cannot be used to upgrade the 2-adult team's 5-fish bag.
5 fish · adult bag+1 junior fish= 6 to the scales
02
Junior Upgrade rule

Solo skipper + 1 junior

1 adult · 1 junior

You get to fish as a combined team. If your junior angler catches a kicker that is heavier than your smallest fish, their catch officially upgrades your main 5-fish bag — and is still recorded on the junior leaderboard.

Taking advantage of this upgrade — allowing the junior to compete in their division while also contributing to the main team structure — is a R300 Junior Upgrade fee (instead of the usual Keepers/Kickers add-on).

If the junior's biggest fish does not upgrade your main bag, you simply bring 6 fish to the scales: your 5 heaviest, plus the junior's 6th fish, weighed entirely separately for their division.

03

Solo skipper + 2 juniors

1 adult · 2 juniors

Perfect for fathers bringing two kids out on the water. The adult fishes alone for their standard 5-fish limit, while the two juniors each fish separately for their 1 biggest fish.

Junior catches do not upgrade the adult's 5-fish bag in this setup.

What's on the line

1st Place Trophy
in each division

To kick off this new structure, the angler who weighs in the heaviest single fish in The Keepers and The Kickers will take home the official 1st Place Trophy and the title for their age group.

As these divisions grow, we look forward to expanding the podium and prize pool even further.
